Technical Data Sheet
Heavy Stipple is a high build, heavy textured coating. Essentially an exterior wall coating, but can be used for interior walls & ceilings where a special decorative effect is required. i.e. Foyers, Entrance Halls, Archways etc. Particularly recommended where a hard abrasion resistant finish is required.
Contains selected grades of dolomite chips and grit which helps conceal surface imperfections. Extremely hard wearing. Provides weatherproof protection against wind driven rain. Easily applied with lamb’s wool/sponge stipple roller. Equipment easily cleaned in water.
Surface to be painted must be thoroughly clean, dry and free from all foreign contaminants. Loose, flaking paint and efflorescence must be completely removed from previously painted surfaces. All bare exposed metal areas must be spot primed with the appropriate primer and undercoat. Gloss and oil paint surfaces to be thoroughly sanded and wiped down with damp cloth. Chalky surfaces must be thoroughly sanded before applying 1 coat Plaster Primer diluted 10% with Mineral Turpentine.
Do not apply in cold and wet weather conditions.
Do not apply to unsound surfaces.
Should be ideally applied with Lamb’s wool/sponge roller. Work the roller well into the paint and ensure it is fully loaded. DO NOT OVERSPREAD. After completeing 2-3m2 “Lay Off” by rolling the empty roller over the wet surface in one direction only, to obtain an even textured finish. Other patterns can be obtained by dabbing surface with a coarse damp sea sponge immediately after “laying off” or by lightly dragging a plastic trowel over the surface to smooth out the “peaks”. It is important to keep the trowel wet by dipping it into water at regular intervals.
