Technical Data Sheet
Used extensively for the protection of exterior walls, fibre cement, downpipes, chalky and previously painted surfaces. Very reliable in replacing PVA. Has similar matt finish, uniformity & fast drying properties. Can be washed & scrubbed with detergents with little/no effect to the film. Its self cleaning properties makes it ideal for high rise buildings.
Breathes better than PVA. Allows moisture vapour to evaporate through the film but prevents rain water from penetrating the film. No problem with drying. Excellent recoating. Outstanding durability. Resists rain 20 minutes after application. Formulated with PLIOLITETM resins from ELIOKEMTM
CONCRETE/CEMENT: Large cracks and blow holes must be filled. Apply first coat Dekalite diluted up to 20% with Mineral Turps. GYPSUM/FIBRE CEMENT: Dilute first coat Dekalite up to 20% with Mineral Turps. GALVANISED IRON: Fabricators pre-treatment must be completely removed with Galvanised Iron Cleaner & primed with WB Galv Iron Primer.
Previously Painted Surfaces:
CHALKY PVA: Sand down all loose powder and flaking paint. Dilute first coat Dekalite 10 – 25% with Mineral Turps depending on severity of chalkiness. ENAMEL SURFACES: Very lightly rub with 320 grit dry paper to a matt finish and wipe down with damp cloth. Apply Dekalite undiluted.
Not recommended for surfaces which exceed 60°C. Poor resistance to oils, fats and solvents including MIneral Turps.
Stir thoroughly with flat paddle before use. Ready for use with brush, roller or airless spray. 2 coats normally required, in some cases 3 may be necessary. Allow minimum of 4 hours dry time between coats. Thin up to 20% when applying porous and chalky surfaces.
